Another exam in the bag

Monday, November 29th, 2004

I took the exam in Market Law yesterday and received the result today.. not only did the teacher deliver extremely interesting lectures, he also corrected around 50 exams in less than 24 hours, Impressive. The trend of performing well kept up, I ended up second best in the class, indeed a good way to round off the year. I am now the sole person in my class to have passed all exams at the first attempt, in just six months I can complete the home-run. Somehow my lazyass approach to studying pays off, quality beats quantity.. or as Douglas Adams expressed it..

“There is no problem so complicated that you cannot find a very simple answer to it if you look at in the right way.” — Douglas N. Adams

DeGe down under

So I guess it’s official news now, I received the papers stating that I’ve been admitted to study at La Trobe University starting July 2005. I’ll be studying for a Master of Computer Science degree for the next two years in the Melbourne sun =). The only condition is that I must finish my BSc. in Software Engineering first which is due to end in June 2005.. in other words, no easy-street summer for me. I think I’m quite excited but it feels somehow strange, I don’t think I’ve realized it yet.

A small update on my TOEFL scores, when I reported it to the agency overseeing my applications my contact there didnt believe me at first. I had the highest score they had come across so far.. I hope that all this examgoodness is contagious since I’m taking the Market/Business Law exam in just a few hours now..

Hit the ground running

Friday, November 26th, 2004

My internet connection finally works again after 7 days of downtime due to a broken switch at my ISP (I wonder what will happen when they have a serious problem?). Being stranded without internet connectivity and no TV makes life hard for a newsjunkie like me, I had to stay by the radio to keep updated on the political developments around the world.

I received a few nice examresults during the break that I can boast about. I was the sole person in my class to pass the Industrial Economics exam, I scored 660/677 on the TOEFL test and 6.0/6.0 on the TWE. If I only could score like that in other aspects of life aswell..

Its all about the uptime..

MSN Search Sucks

Sunday, November 14th, 2004

Microsoft is supposed to be entering the searchengine arena with MSN Search to kill Google, and as usual when it comes to Microsoft: their product stinks old parsley. The crawler they hacked together is a moronic kludge in true Microsoft spirit. Why do it right when you can hack together some shit with nice shoepolish on top that people will be fooled to buy? This site has been crawled a crazyass 1700 times since mid July this year.. during the same time Google has crawled me 170 times and still index me more correct. Luckily enough, I dont pay for the bandwidth but I can imagine the millions of dollars worth of bandwidth this shit has consumed to no use. Not only does it crawl the pages I have, it tries to be a smartass and guess pages I probably have but it can’t find links to.. not only is this a shitty idea, the programmer who hacked up that kludge was probably seriously hooked on the entire armada of drugs available at the local highschool. Starting today this site is offlimits for MSN Search and will be until they present a crawler that is as retarded.

Listening Comprehension Test

It’s summer all winter long! Just came home from clubbing at Sommarklubben with the one and only Axwell behind the decks who delivered a brutally fresh set. Lots of people, a tight and fresh dj-set and a few good beers.. this was a much needed night

Big ups to Nina who gave me her earplugs since I’d forgotten mine, I owe you bigtime! (having severe tinnitus sucks to bad)

Happy(?) Halloween

Saturday, November 6th, 2004

Following the tradition, I lighted a candle on Annas grave today. Although it was 14 years since she passed away, it still hurts.. the pain will be my lifelong companion. I love you and miss you so much Anna!.. Other elements of the day consist of our house getting burgled and my finding out that I’ve probably been rejected from one the universities I’ve applied to. Why can’t bad things come in singular.. just once.. please..

Had coffee with Joel and recieved some books from Amazon which saved the day from total and utter misery.

Bush for president =(

Thursday, November 4th, 2004

How could any intelligent human being vote for Bush, it clearly defies all logic. A bit of relief in all this crap is that all the states where my relatives live voted for Kerry and a few even legalized gay weddings, perhaps living that close to Canada have de-americanized them. It seems that Einstein was correct in his saying:

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.–Einstein

exam from hell

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004

This exam sucked.. I could probably have studied ten times more and still would’ve failed. The questions were explicitly made to be as hard as possible without reference to relevant course material, not a single question on the most important chapters from the book was in sight. It’s not easy to succeed when the teachers goal is for you to fail..

Spent the evening drawing to ease the pain and added some handmade stickers to the gallery, check them out.
