Money makes the world go round

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

The industrial economics exam starts in about eight hours.. the entire weekend and most parts of last week spent studying, therefore the lack of updates. I’ve come up with some new projects both code- and artwise, hopefully there will be some results pretty soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow, finance really isn’t my cup of tea..

A quiet weekend

Monday, October 25th, 2004

A quiet weekend spent mostly studying, with both the BSc thesis and and an exam in Industrial Economics to hack on, finding useful ways to spend the time wasnt that hard. I translated an old essay/article in environmental ethics to english to brush up my english writing skills, this is only the first revision of the translation and probably contains a bag of errors, but it was done quite fast and its too late to proof read it now.. I’ll polish it up tomorrow.. nothing much else to report, all quiet on the western front..

Allocation of no return

Yay! Finally got the green light from my professor this morning on my BSc thesis subject; Multithreaded malloc(3) performance in FreeBSD. Time to get down and dirty on this one in other words. If you’re interested, you can read my outline. Now I need to buy some cheap SMP hardware and a shitload of books who’s costs I havent been able to justify until now =).

All this scratching is making me itch

Thursday, October 21st, 2004

Got a lot of fresh turntablism from my C64 homeboy DJ Joakim Cosmo tonight which had the usual effect on my sleepinghabits.. the lecture in Industrial Economics starts in a few hours.. mental note: never run out of Segafredo coffeebeans. I’m currently burning the last of the midnight oil listening to The Invisibl Skratch Piklz with The Shiggar Fraggar Show.. this totally makes being a wreck in the morning worth it =) Pure gold..

Still havent recieved word from my professor on the thesis subject by the way, oh the joys of speedy electronic communication.. guess I’ll have to hit his office in the morning. After 4 years of consulting I cant get used to the academic way of doing things.

RixTex

Added a small hack I wrote for my lawclass to convert downloaded lawtexts from the Swedish Government site into LaTeX so they wont look horrible when printed. I will add support for indices and topics/headers but thats a later project.

Deadend Roadtrip

Saturday, October 16th, 2004

My eyes are burning from uptime, 5 hours sleep out of the last 50.. my body is in a deteriorated state caused by stress, restlesness and caffeine o.d.. my mind has been tuned to a dead channel, the last spots of white efficiently covered in static.. drove 600km today to do a test which results doesnt matter anymore.. the old saying that things can only get better doesnt seem to apply to me..

Missing (in) action

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004

Another day passed and not much got done, I was just too bored all day to actually get around to doing everything that needed attention and ended up getting nowhere.. Spent some time on the outline for my essay on a paralelltasking multiprocessor aware malloc(3) implementation for FreeBSD but didn’t get as far as I would’ve wanted. I recieved a mail from the original author, Poul-Henning Kamp, which cheered me up though, being able to contact the developers directly and recieve thoughy-through and polite answers like this always blows me away since I’ve seen the commercial side of software development..

About the only thing I actually managed to get done today without damaging something in the process was to finish reading Dune Messiah which is a brilliant piece of science fiction literature. I sincerely recommend the Dune Chronicles to everyone, it’s a great story with a lot to learn from..

Lomography

Friday, October 8th, 2004

I rarely desire or want any new technical gadgets these days, but occasionally I find stuff I need to justify continue breathing and moving around in this world.. I so much need to get me a Lomographic ActionSampler, that thing is a thing of pure crystallized beauty. Want, Need, Must Have!

Vinyls\”R Us

Monday, October 4th, 2004

A slow sunday spent mostly with chillin in my new loungechair and drinking coffee. Artwise, the gallery has been updated with two vinyls I made this friday with Belton spraypaint. Sprays rock now when my hand still is too messed up to do freehand drawing.. Now for a new week of school..

Another Week

Sunday, October 3rd, 2004

Somehow another week has passed by without much happening. I’ve more or less decided on my exam thesis subject though which is good news, I’ll probably research malloc(3) implementations for multithreaded/SMP environments. Who me nerd? Spent wednesday doing some final touchings on art for a Commodore64 game which will be extremely cool.. lowtek retro computing at it’s best!

A new shirt has been added to the gallery, Danish Royal, which was made using spraypaint (Belton) for a friends birthday. More updates to the gallery are to expected soon, some new stuff has been sprayed and a new shirt is on the way as well.
