A few weeks back, I was busy making pancakes for 25 surftrip-kids on a hotplate in the middle of the Wilsons Promontory National Park. Uneasy feeling. I was being watched.  Observed. We’re talking teen girls at boyband concert eye-balling. But the hung-over and tired wasn’t really paying any attention. Someone was lurking in trees.

Oh shit.. Kookaburra. I’m dead meat. They may seem cute and all but they fully qualify for the general cuddly-animal rule of Australia: “If it seems really cute, fluffy and all things with sugar on top - Run like hell.”

The cold war of the pancakes was on. Full stakes. Mutually Assured Destruction. These pancakes didn’t have surrender written  I did trash-talking, staring and the occasional move from Karate Kid II accompanied by my spatula.

Bodily Reboot in Progress

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

I handed in my last assignment for the semester this morning.. an assignment I’ve been working on the last couple of days.. and in the process spent 6 out of the last 50 hours sleeping. Time for bed.

Spring or Summer?

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

According to the forecasts the temperature is going to hit 30 tomorrow here in Melbourne.. a perfect day to spend all day in the computerlabs with a huge assignment on XML databases.

Or not..

..but it’s precisely what I have to do, I should probably avoid raffles at the moment.

Back from Tassie

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Me and Emma got back from 4 wonderful days down in Tasmania yesterday.. days filled with hiking in national parks, roadtripping, weather, staying at cosy b&b’s, more weather and just doing what we felt like.. no stress, all good.

We arrived in Melbourne when the AFL grand final was on so we just dumped the bags and headed over to a rooftop party at Geoffs place.. beer, barbecue and mates in a hot spring evening.

I’ll post pictures from Tasmania and the AFL party tomorrow.. now I need some sleep.

Back in the Surf

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

The surfing season is finally picking up speed again after a long winter..well, not that long actually. Me and Ted headed down with the S@LT surfteam last night to Torquay for a day in the wet stuff. Nice waves, sunshine, warm weather and cool people.. good combination.

I ended up buying a surfboard from Ashley Surfboards, the coolest surfboard shapers in the world. I’m getting a custom 7.0 feet board made up for me in a shape similar to a Mini Malibu but with a sharper nose.. and I get to go down there before the board is finalized so I can add my own design to it.. I’m so excited I’m wetting my boardshorts.

Pictures from the weekend have been added to the gallery..

Now I need to change pants.

Head Spinning

Friday, August 18th, 2006

Sorry for the silence.. I’m once again submerged in massive amounts of work combined with a malfunctioning head and body. To top it off I’m going to Falls Creek this weekend to do some skiing which I at the moment dont have time for..

Sucks to be me.. =(

Ride in Style

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

Riding public transport in this city is like trying to find humanitarian aspects in the US foreign policy.. to get rid of that pain me and Ted bought a car today, a 1977 Holden Kingswood stationwagon (with a big V6 engine) that Ted found on the internet after a couple of days of hardcore ad-reading.

Did I mention that it sounds like a tank crossbred with a fishingboat with a throatache? It does.. =)

Back!

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

I’m back from an amazing week in the snow.. but I’m still in my thermals (that I put on about 10 hours ago and havent washed all week) so I’ll let you know the details later. Now: shower!

Preservation

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

With less than 48 hours to go before leaving for a week of snowboarding most sane people would probably sit still and try not to hurt themselves.. luckily I dont sort into that category (being sane that is) and just came back from a 25km dirtbike ride along the muddy and slippery tracks by the Yarra river.

Damage toll: no new injuries..

Tinkering is going on behind the scenes to roll out rastplats 2.0, stay tuned.

Update 2006-07-04,2 :: Comment-spam prevention is in place and all the photos are being converted from the old site to the new. You can sneakpeek on the work in the upcoming photolog.

Update 2006-07-04,1 :: All old posts seem to be online now again. A conversion script from NanoBlogger flatfile format to a WordPress sqldump did the trick. Next stop galleryconversion.
